- Why .PINK?
- Get .PINK
Part of the fun of buying a domain for a blog or special website is putting together the top-level domain – .PINK – with different expressions to find one that suits exactly what you want to convey.
As an example, one classic “pink” expression that gives a strong sense of joy and optimism is “tickled pink.” That’s an expression you know … but you may not know it’s an expression that has withstood the test of time.
It was more than a century ago that “pink” was joined, in print, with “tickled.” Why? To describe a professional baseball player’s reaction to being drafted onto a new team. Grover "Slim" Lowdermilk was the Major League Baseball player in question; his career ran from 1909 to 1920.
And what tickled him pink? Being “bought” from St. Louis to play for the Chicago Cubs.
But why “tickled pink”? One guess is that being “tickled pink” came into being because being physically tickled causes laughter and, many times, the cheeks of the person being tickled blush with a rosy pink hue. The metaphoric idea of “being delighted” as “tickled pink” follows easily from that.
When it comes to figures of speech, colors come up frequently, especially the color pink. So when you’re searching for your .PINK domain, the possibilities are limited only by your imagination!
