Hip Hop Battles Breast Cancer on Mamaluke.PINK

The Breast Cancer Awareness Month has been over for a while but the fight against breast cancer continues! As medical professionals press on to search for the cure, people around the world need to keep learning about breast cancer causes, symptom detection, prevention best practices, and treatment options.

MamaLuke.PINK is Hip Hop’s fight against breast cancer in memory of Gay Frances Lucas, affectionately known as “Mama Luke.” Born on June 16, 1950 in Ringgold, Virginia, she was the first person in her family to go to college. She was an active member of her community throughout her life and she had also participated in the American Cancer Society’s Breast Cancer Walk for over 12 years.  Mama Luke lost her life to breast cancer on May 31, 2010. Her passing inspired the Mama Luke movement, which drew huge support from hip hop artists who wanted to promote awareness of the disease among urban America and to uplift spirits of breast cancer fighters everywhere! The movement has continued to create buzz and is among American Cancer Society Newark, New Jersey chapter’s best fund-raising teams.

MamaLuke.PINK is one of the first web sites on the new .PINK domain. This web extension is not only about breast cancer awareness but really any subject matter that calls for, and builds, courage, compassion and optimism. Because that’s what the color pink projects. If that’s also what your business or personal mission stands for, see how you can get your web site on the .PINK domain!
